Okay... the title is a little nerdy #sorrynotsorry

Welcome to my brand new photography blog! I'm excited to be here. I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to make of it yet, but I felt I needed to introduce myself and let you know what I'm all about. So let's start with my name.

Before this, it Focus and Frame Photography was called "Radioactive Films," or by its alias "Radioactive Design Collective". I actually chose the name back in junior high for a fictitious media company in a filmmaking class. Well I guess I liked it so much, I turned it into an actual company around the end of my college career. (Don't ask me how I came up with it.) Here are a few project I've worked on in the past.

But why is my new company Focus and Frame PHOTOGRAPHY, not FILMS or MEDIA? Well, as much as I love filmmaking, the past few years I found my love for photography. I've done quite a few still projects than video and have absolutely loved them! Don't get me wrong, I still do plenty of video work, but decided to focus this company on stills. (If you do have a video project, please reach out and I'll be more than happy to try and accommodate.)

I am starting this blog for multiple reasons: First off, I know being in front of the camera is scary and I want to help ease your nerves when getting your photo taken. Secondly, I also understand not everyone knows everything about photography so I want to help you figure out what outfits work best, what season is perfect for you, and even how to choose the right photographer for you. And finally. I want to share more of my experience as a photographer, some behind-the-scenes (BTS) footage, and stories of different shoots that I go on. I think this is a fun way to do exactly that and include you in the process.

Let's backtrack to my time at school...I graduated from college (University of Colorado - Colorado Springs) with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications - Digital Filmmaking. I guess I've always had a love for movies and film. During college, I worked as a counselor at an awesome summer camp and during the school year I was a teacher at a daycare. There, I got to spend my days with tons of kids between the ages of 6 weeks to 12 years old (depending on the day and/or time of year). I've always had a passion for teaching, but working with youth really showed me how much I truly love early childhood education. I loved it so much that when I moved halfway across the country, I found another daycare job. Seemed like I was really meant to teach. It seems pretty rare for there to be a male teacher in early childhood education, but there I was. I knew that not all of the kids I worked with had male role models in their life, and I was happy and proud to be there for each individual child. When public school was out, I would assist the camp program where I also got be me their (Un)official photographer for the summer. After a few years, I decided that as much as I loved where I worked, I needed to return to my original career path and find a job in film or photography...My first passion. But don't worry, I still get the opportunity to visit all my old kids that I got to know pretty well.

After the daycare, I quickly found the perfect position where I currently reside at the time of writing this. I work for the first global catholic television network, EWTN News. There, I am a videographer where I get to travel, work on cool stories, meet new or famous people and still get my 'filmmaking fix'. I've absolutely loved working with an amazing news crew and have had some awesome opportunities through the network. *The views of this blog and future posts on my website are my own*

Getting back to why you're reading, I know what you're thinking: "But Jack, photography is a broad subject, what type of photography do you focus on??" That, is an excellent question. I've yet to really choose a niche in photography, so instead of telling you what I face my skills towards, I'll tell you what I love to photograph. I love working with young children and families, I love taking portraits of any kind (family, senior, etc...) and I also really love weddings. I offer a bunch of different services and to see some that I currently offer, make sure to visit my booking link.

Alright, we're finally to the end. I absolutely love what I do and hope to keep doing it for a very long time. If you're new, I'd love to get to meet you and talk about how I can help you!
